Emaze

Working with Emaze was fun and very much like Google Slides or PowerPoint. The difference between them is that it has great animations and graphics. These differences make presentations more enjoyable to make and view, especially as a student. Making these presentations are quick and enjoyable.

ThingLink

ThingLink is great for presenting topics because you can narrow down the topic to major points. You can also use this to quiz students on information. Students can also use this to present a topic because of its simple format or use it as a form of review for a test. The one I created was on the major lakes and bodies of water in the United States.

Online Photo Editing

To edit the photos I have posted, I used iPiccy. It's free and fast to use when doing a quick edit on your photos. For my first photo, the flowers, I used saturate and burn to darken the photo and age it. I also liquified the background and the edges to soften the background and bring more focus to the two flowers. For the second photo, the zebras, I also used burn on this to darken the photo slightly around the edges and then used the tool noise to give it a slight rough texture. Finally for the lighthouse, I used clone to erase the wires that hung from the lighthouse and used matte to blur out the edges with white.

Storybird

I loved using this site! It gives you endless artwork possibilities that you can use to create your very own story. It's also extremely easy to use and to navigate, but they do limit you on font, font size, and how to organize your book. I still had a lot of fun creating my story that I have available below. It can also be exciting for students to use to create their own story to share in and out of class.

Infographics

For the infographics I created I used Canva and Venngage. I loved it because it gives you a variety of free layouts and objects that you can insert. Creating infographics allows you to teach something of importance in a fast, simple, and fun way for everyone. Using this, you can be as straightforward or creative as you would like.

Google Slides

I love Google Slides, it allows you to use text, photos, and videos for presentations. You can organize and show your thoughts any way that you want or need to. It's also easy to understand, so you can quickly figure out how to use all the tools that are available to use. Using Google Slides allows you to be as creative or simple as you want to help teach.

Mind Mapping

For this mind map I used Lucid Chart. I wasn't too impressed with this site, it was a little more challenging to use and you were only allowed to use up to 60 objects a document. The only way to add more is to upgrade and pay. I wasn't able to find a way to add videos or links, it was only able to figure out how to add photos and text. This is still a good way though to organize thoughts and ideas for others to view and learn from.

Pinterest

The link below will take you to a Pinterest board that I have made. It has multiple teaching methods that I believe can be helpful when teaching math in elementary school. These activities can be fun, entertaining, and insightful for kids who struggle with this subject. Pinterest is a fast and fun way to share and gain new ideas, whether it be for educational or recreational purposes.

Second Grade Curriculum

I thought that this was a fun and fairly simple way to help keep parents informed about what their children will be learning about each year. Google Docs allows you to not only tap into your creative side but be informative as well when contacting parents.

YouTube Playlist

I love YouTube, it's one of the first places I go when I need help with understanding or doing something. It's great because it's free and you can use it to get access to creative ideas on how to teach or learn something. Videos can especially help in classrooms when kids are more visual learners. When showing YouTube videos that are helpful in classes, kids can also go home and watch them again and watch others to learn more.

Using Google Apps

For me, I don't have that much experience with Google Apps. Although sometimes I can learn and become comfortable with using things quickly. The apps that I have mainly used throughout the years and grown comfortable with are YouTube, Google Search, Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Maps. All of these I have found easy to learn how to use and quite helpful to have. The apps that I feel would be most beneficial for elementary teachers would be Google Search, Blogger, YouTube, Google Docs and Forms. Mainly because these can help teachers to share and find new ideas that are both creative and helpful when teaching. They can also help with planning lessons and the ability to be more organized.

Flyer

Learning how to use Lucid Press to make a flyer was enjoyable. I can see how knowing how to make a flyer can be useful. Flyers are one of the best and simple ways to contact parents and keep them informed about what is happening at their child's school. That way they are able to know what they can do on their end to help and stay involved in their child's school life.

Get to Know You Survey

I feel that Google Forms can be very beneficial for elementary teachers. They can use this free app to create surveys, quizzes, and or tests for their classes. The way that they have the app set up makes it quick and easy to use because they already have the format made and ready to type in your information. I enjoyed getting to learn how to use it and create a survey that could be used in a classroom.
